Being and Becoming: A Community for the Curious is a Toronto based non-profit organization that has a central mission to create a community around the philosophical exploration of ideas, questions, and experiences so that we may live more intentional, connected, and meaningful lives.
Curiosity Café
Every two weeks, we invite members of our community to come out to the Madison Avenue Pub to engage in a collaborative exploration of a chosen topic to dig deeper into whatever it is we are most curious about.
Experimental Series
The experimental series is a collection of curated events that introduce novel and perhaps surprising ways to collaboratively explore questions that don’t necessarily lend themselves to the traditional café format.
Philosophy Festival 2024
Get ready for a week-long philosophy festival in Toronto with seminars, workshops, and socials from November 19th-23rd. Check out our events page for more details.
Would you like to receive updates from us about upcoming events, the growing community, and more?
Far from confining ourselves to the world of academic philosophy, we aim for a diverse representation of disciplines among our leadership, our audience, and our guests, who include artists, teachers, writers, as well as philosophers. We also seek to offer a diverse range of events, from formal soirées to open mic nights to discussion cafés, and more! In other words, there’s something for everyone.
We are committed to listening and learning from the desires, needs, and interests of our community. We aim to highlight and explore the work that is being done in academic and non-academic spaces to build stronger connections in the community.
